Abstract

PURPOSE:To electrolyze the surface of a metallic material on the spot and to obtain a high-quality surface by holding the paste contg. an electrolyte between the metallic material and a counter electrode, and supplying an electric current between the material and the counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:The metallic material 4 to be treated is placed on an insulating holder 7. The paste 3 is coated on the surface of the material 4. The paste 3 is obtained by adding an electrolyte such as sodium sulfate and a paste forming agent such as sodium polyacrylate to water, and kneading the mixture. The counter electrode 2 provided with a cover 1 capable of being impregnated with the paste 3 and capable of holding the paste 3 is then arranged on the paste 3. The counter electrode 2 and the material 4 are respectively connected to the negative pole and positive pole of a DC power source 6 through an electric wire 5. As a result, the surface of the material 4 can be electrolytically cleaned uniformly, easily, and rapidly.
