Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent plating on the back side of a substance to be plated by applying potential to the substance as if ordinary electroplating is conducted and by applying the reverse potential in the potential applied state.
CONSTITUTION: An anode 3 and a holder 4 holding a slide bearing 5 to be plated as a cathode are immersed in an electrolytic soln. 2 in a plating tank 1. The inside 5a of the bearing 5 as the side to be plated is faced to the anode 3, and the bearing 5 is attracted to stainless steel pipes 9 in the groove 8 of a support 7 in the holder 4 with rodlike permanent magnets 10 in the pipes 9. An electric current flows from the positive side of a DC power source 14 to the negative side of the source 14 through an electric wire 15, the anode 3, the soln. 2, the bearing 5, the pipes 9 and an electric wire 13, and the inside 5a is plated. At this time, an electrically conductive wire 16 as an electrode preventing plating on the back side is stretched at the back side 5b of the bearing 5 along bottom, central and both side parts of the groove 8. The wire 16 is connected to the negative side of a DC power source 18, and the positive side of the source 18 is connected to the wire 13. The potential of the source 18 is set suitably.
