Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the surface roughening of a photoresist layer and the lowering of the sensitivity of the layer by treating the surface of a glass substrate with a coupling agent dissolved in an org. solvent compatible with water and having a prescribed b.p. CONSTITUTION:An org. solvent compatible with water and having 50-120 deg.C b.p., e.g., acetone, ethanol or methanol is prepd. A coupling agent is dissolved in the org. solvent by 0.1-2wt.%. A glass substrate is immersed in the resulting soln. to treat the surface. By this surface treatment, the adhesion of the glass substrate to a photoresist layer formed on the substrate is improved.
