【発明の詳細な説明】
〔産業上の利用分野〕
本発明は光ファイバーに関し、詳しくは光源より出され
た光を効率よく吸収することのできる先端部を有する光
ファイバーに関する。

近年光ファイバーを用いて行う光通信システムの開発が
急速に行われており、この様なシステムを構成する際、
伝達される光のli失を如何におさえるかは重要な1支
i行課題となっている。この1工な光の損失の原因の一
つとして、光源からの光を光フアイバー先端部に吸収す
る際のロスが挙げられる。 − 従来の光ファイバーにおいて、その先端部を例えば円錐
形状にすることにより光源からの光の吸収効率を上げる
ことが行われている。しかしながら、この様な先端部に
おいても、光の反射による#置火が生じ、いまだ満足の
いく結果が得られていない。

本発明はこの様な従来技術の欠点を解消し、極めて効率
よく光源からの光を吸収することができる先端部を有す
る光ファイバーを提供することを目的とする。

本発明光ファイバーは上記課題を解決するため、光源よ
り出された光を吸収伝達し、コア及び該コアを被覆する
クラッドからなる光ファイバーであって、コア先端部の

なるという構成を有するものである。

以下、本発明の実施例を図面を参照して説明する。
第1図及び第2図は本発明光ファイバーの一実施例を示
すものである。第1図において、1は光ファイバーを示
し、該光ファイバー1はコア2及び該コア2を被覆する
クラッド3より構成されている。コア2の先端4は光源
5から出される光の吸収効率を上げるため円錐状に形成
されている。

無反射コーティング層6の形成方法としては、無機化合
物にあっては、蒸着法、イオンブーティング法、又、有

グ方法を採用することができる。

本発明において無反射コーティング層を施す部分はコア
の先端部分であり、光源からの光の入射面に設ける必要
がある。−最に光源からコアへの光の吸収はコアの中心
部付近において成されるものであり、従って、無反射コ
ーティング層はコア中心部を中心として設けられる。例
えば、第1図に示す様なコア端部が円錐形状をなしてい
るものであれば、その先端から円錐の斜面に亘ってコー
ティング層を設けることが必要である。又、本発明に於
けるコア端部は円錐形状のものと限定されるわけではな
く、その場合もコアの中心から光の入射部分にコーティ
ング層を設ける必要がある。

層を有しているため、光フアイバ一端面と媒質との境界
における、屈折率の不整合による光の反射、及び、その
入射角に対する角度依存性を低減できる。

第1図に示す形状の光ファイバーのコア先端部に蒸着に
より酸化アルミニウムの無反射コーティング層を施した

であり、従って、効率の良い光の伝達を行うことができ
る良好な光ファイバーである。

Claims (1)
- 光源より出された光を吸収伝達し、コア及び該コアを被
覆するクラッドからなる光ファイバーに於いて、コア先
端部の光源からの光の入射面に無反射コーティング層を
設けてなることを特徴とする光ファイバー。
