ための図、第2図は光導波路プリフオームにおけ
る軸線方向応力の半径方向変化を示す図、第3図
は光導波路プリフオームにおける半径方向座標に
関する周囲方向応力の変化を示す図、第4図は光
導波路プリフオームにおける軸線方向および周囲
方向応力の分布を示す図、第5図は軸線方向応力
をクラツドの膨張係数の関数として示す図である
。 図面において、10はガラス層、11は出発部
材(ベイト・ロツド)、12はバーナー、14は
炎、15,16,17は容器、18,19,20
は液体成分、24,26,27は弁、25,28
,29はゲージをそれぞれ示す。

Claims (1)
- シリコン化合物とドーパントを含む少なくとも
3つの成分を有するグレーデツド・インデツクス
型コアと、このコアの周囲に設けられそれよりも
屈折率の低いクラツド層を具備しており、前記コ
アの第1の成分はそれの濃度の変化に応じて屈折
率と熱膨張係数が変化するガラスを生ずるドーパ
ントであり、前記コアの第2の成分はそれの濃度
の変化に応じて熱膨張係数に半径方向の変化を生
じさせるドーパンであり、その熱膨張係数はコア
の半径方向全体にわたつて実質的に一定であり、
前記クラツド層は屈折率には実質的に変化を生じ
ないがクラツドの熱膨張係数をコアの複合熱膨張
係数にほぼ等しくなるまで増大させる成分を含有
しており、膨張係数の異なるクラツドによつて惹
記されるコア内の残留応力が圧縮である光導波路
。
