Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔技術分野〕 この発明は、第１図に示すごとくウェブＷを案内走行さ
せる主ロール１と逆回転するロール２との間に塗工剤溝
り３を設け２両ロールＩ・２間のニップにウェブＷを通
して塗工剤溝り３からの塗工剤を該ウェブＷに塗布する
トップフィード方式のダイレクト・リバースロールコー
タに関する。
〔背景技術〕
この種のロールコータにおいては、塗工剤が無溶剤型ま
で行かなくても速乾性の場合、塗工剤溝り３から逆回転
ロール２の周面に付着した塗工剤がウェブ表面に接触す
るまでの間に乾燥して皮張り状態になりがちである。そ
のために２両ロールド２間のニップ間隔が全体的にもし
くはロール幅方向で部分的に狂い、これが時間の経過と
ともに増長されて行き、高精度の塗工ができない。逆回
転ロール２を頻繁に洗浄することを余儀なくされている
。また、ウェブ表面への塗工剤の塗布面が荒れるところ
に問題があった。
〔発明の目的〕
この発明は、かかる事実に着目して、極めて簡単な方式
でしかし抜群の効果を発揮して逆回転ロール２に塗工剤
の皮張りが生じることを防止でき。
その結果ウェブＷへの塗工剤の塗布表面も平滑化できる
ようにしたものである。
〔発明の概要〕
すなわち１本発明の原理はドクター４で塗工剤を掻き取
ったのちの逆回転ロール２の周面に溶剤を供給して、以
てこの溶剤で逆回転ロール２に付着の塗工剤を溶かすよ
うにした点にある。
溶剤としては塗工剤によって有機溶剤であったり、水溶
性塗工剤では通常の水であったりする。
〔実施例〕
第１図は本発明に係るロールコータを例示しており、１
はＡ矢視方向に回転駆動されてウェブＷを走行ガイドす
る主ロールである。２ば主ロール１とは逆のＢ矢視方向
に回転駆動される逆回転ロールである。主ロール１と逆
回転ロール２とは所定のニップ間隔を以て対向しており
１両ロールド２間の上部に塗工剤溝り３が所定の液面を
維持するよう形成され１両ロールド２間のニップにウェ
ブＷを通すと塗工剤溝り３からの塗工剤が逆回転ロール
２でウェブＷの片面に塗布される。両ロールド２は少な
くとも一方がゴム被膜ロールであって、速度比を持たせ
てあり、主ロールｌは塗工速度で回転駆動され、逆回転
ロール２は主ロールｌよりもゆっくり回転する。
逆回転ロール２の周面にはドクター４が塗工剤溝り３に
近いロール回転方向下手側部位において接当作用してお
り、塗工剤溝り３から逆回転ロール２の周面にすくい上
げられた塗工剤はドクター４で掻き取られて大半が塗工
剤溝り３に戻される。
逆回転ロール２の周面にはドクター４の作用点Ｐと主ロ
ール１の接触点Ｐ′との間において溶剤が供給される。
この溶剤供給手段５として１図の例では逆回転ロール２
の周面でドクター４の前記作用点Ｐよりもロール回転方
向下手側部位の近傍に１図ではロールからなる溶剤供給
部材６を接触させ１逆回転ロール２と溶剤供給部材６と
の間の上部に溶剤溜り７が所定の液面を維持するよう形
成され、この溶剤溜り７からの溶剤が逆回転ロール２の
周面に幅方向にわたって適量づつ連続的に供給されもの
となっている。この溶剤供給部材６は固定であることを
予想しているが、逆回転ロール２と連れ回りするもので
もよい。
また、溶剤供給手段５としては、前述の溶剤供給部材６
をロールに代えてバー状の固定部材にしてもよいし、更
には第２図に示す如く溶剤供給部材６を噴霧ノズルにし
て、これから溶剤を逆回転ロール２の周面に噴霧供給す
る形態などにしてもよく、この溶剤供給手段５は自由に
選べるところである。
〔本発明の作用効果〕
以上のようにした本発明に係るロールコータによれば、
塗工剤の性状によって溶解するに適した溶剤（水又は各
種の有機溶剤など）が逆回転ロール２の周面にドクター
４の作用点Ｐよりもロール回転方向下手側部位において
供給される。したがって、速乾性の塗工剤が塗工剤溝り
３から逆回転ロール２に転着してドクター４で掻き落と
されたノチ該ロール周面に残っていても、このロール周
面上の残溜塗工剤は前記溶剤で溶かされて薄膜状に乾燥
することがない。その結果、逆回転ロール２の周面ば常
に溶剤でぬれた状態で主ロール１との間のニップを通る
ウェブＷの塗工面に接触することになり、ウェブＷの塗
工面を荒れの無い平滑な光沢面に仕上げることができる
。そして、長期間にわたって稼働させても、逆回転ロー
ル２を頻繁に洗浄する必要もない利点を有する。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 （１１ウェブＷを案内走行させる主ロール１と、主ロー
    ル１に対して逆方向に回転する逆回転ロール２とを備え
    ており９両ロールド２間の上部に塗工剤溝り３が形成さ
    れ５両ロールド２間の二ツブにウェブＷを通して塗工剤
    溝り３からの塗工剤を該ウェブＷに塗布するロールコー
    タにおいて。 逆回転ロール２の周面に作用するドクター４を塗工剤溝
    り３よりもロール回転方向下手側部位に配設し、逆回転
    コール２０周面上におけるドクター４の作用点Ｐよりも
    ロール回転方向下手側部位に。 逆回転ロール２０周面に溶剤を供給する手段５が設けら
    れていることを特徴とするロールコータ。
