Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔技術分野〕 この発明は、第１図に示すごとくウエブＷを案
内走行させる主ロール１と、これとの接触点P′で
逆方向に回転するロール２との間に塗工剤溜り３
を設け、両ロール１，２間のニツプにウエブＷを
通して塗工剤溜り３からの塗工剤を該ウエブＷに
塗布するトツプフイード方式のダイレクト・リバ
ースロールコータに関する。
〔背景技術〕
この種のロールコータにおいては、塗工剤が無
溶剤型まで行かなくても速乾性の場合、塗工剤溜
り３から逆回転ロール２の周面に付着した塗工剤
がウエブ表面に接触するまでの間に乾燥して皮張
り状態になりがちである。そのために、両ロール
１，２間のニツプ間隔が全体的にもしくはロール
幅方向で部分的に狂い、これが時間の経過ととも
に増長されて行き、高精度の塗工ができない。逆
回転ロール２を頻繁に洗浄することを余儀なくさ
れている。また、ウエブ表面への塗工剤の塗布面
が荒れるところに問題があつた。
〔発明の目的〕
この発明は、かかる事実に着目して、極めて簡
単な方式でしかし抜群の効果を発揮して逆回転ロ
ール２に塗工剤の皮張りが生じることを防止で
き、その結果ウエブＷへの塗工剤の塗布表面も平
滑化できるようにしたものである。
〔発明の概要〕
すなわち、本発明の原理はドクター４で塗工剤
を掻き取つたのちの逆回転ロール２の周面に溶剤
を供給して、以てこの溶剤で逆回転ロール２に付
着の塗工剤を溶かすようにした点にある。
溶剤としては塗工剤によつて有機溶剤であつた
り、水溶性塗工剤では通常の水であつたりする。
〔実施例〕
第１図は本発明に係るロールコータを例示して
おり、１はＡ矢視方向に回転駆動されてウエブＷ
を走行ガイドする主ロールである。２は主ロール
１に対してこれとの接触点P′で逆方向、すなわち
Ｂ矢視方向に回転駆動される逆回転ロールであ
る。主ロール１と逆回転ロール２とは所定のニツ
プ間隔を以て対向しており、両ロール１，２間の
上部に塗工剤溜り３が所定の液面を維持するよう
形成され、両ロール１，２間のニツプにウエブＷ
を通すと塗工剤溜り３からの塗工剤が逆回転ロー
ル２でウエブＷの片面に塗布される。両ロール
１，２は少なくとも一方がゴム被膜ロールであつ
て、速度比を持たせており、主ロール１は塗工速
度で回転駆動され、逆回転ロール２は主ロール１
よりもゆつくり回転する。
逆回転ロール２の周面にはドクター４が塗工剤
溜り３に近いロール回転方向下手側部位において
当接作用しており、塗工剤溜り３から逆回転ロー
ル２の周面にすくい上げられた塗工剤はドクター
４で掻き取られて大半が塗工剤溜り３に戻され
る。
逆回転ロール２の周面にはドクター４の作用点
Ｐと主ロール１の接触点P′との間において溶剤が
供給される。
この溶剤供給手段５として、図の例では逆回転
ロール２の周面でドクター４の前記作用点Ｐより
もロール回転方向下手側部位の近傍に、図ではロ
ールからなる溶剤供給部材６を接触させ、逆回転
ロール２と溶剤供給部材６との間の上部に溶剤溜
り７が所定の液面を維持するよう形成され、この
溶剤溜り７からの溶愛が逆回転ロール２の周面に
幅方向にわたつて適量づつ連続的に供給されもの
となつている。この溶剤供給部材６は固定である
ことを予想しているが、逆回転ロール２と連れ回
りするものでもよい。
また、溶剤供給手段５としては、前述の溶剤供
給部材６をロールに代えてバー状の固定部材にし
てもよいし、更には第２図に示す如く溶剤供給部
材６を噴霧ノズルにして、これから溶剤を逆回転
ロール２の周面に噴霧供給する形態などにしても
よく、この溶剤供給手段５は自由に選べるところ
である。
〔本発明の作用効果〕
以上のようにした本発明に係るロールコータに
よれば、塗工剤の性状によつて溶解するに適した
溶剤（水又は各種の有機溶剤など）が逆回転ロー
ル２の周面にドクター４の作用点Ｐよりもロール
回転方向下手側部位において供給される。したが
つて、速乾性の塗工剤が塗工剤溜り３から逆回転
ロール２に転着してドクター４で掻き落とされた
のち該ロール周面に残つていても、このロール周
面上の残溜塗工剤は前記溶剤で溶かされて薄膜状
に乾燥することがない。その結果、逆回転ロール
２の周面は常に溶剤でぬれた状態で主ロール１と
の間のニツプを通るウエブＷの塗工面に接触する
ことになり、ウエブＷの塗工面を荒れの無い平滑
な光沢面に仕上げることができる。そして、長期
間にわたつて稼働させても、逆回転ロール２を頻
繁に洗浄する必要もない利点を有する。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ ウエブＷを案内走行させる主ロール１と、主
    ロール１に対してこれとの接触点P′で逆方向に回
    転する逆回転ロール２とを備えており、両ロール
    １，２間の上部に塗工剤溜り３が形成され、両ロ
    ール１，２間のニツプにウエブＷを通して塗工剤
    溜り３からの塗工剤を該ウエブＷに塗布するロー
    ルコータにおいて、 逆回転ロール２の周面に作用するドクター４を
    塗工剤溜り３よりもロール回転方向下手側部位に
    配設し、 逆回転ロール２の周面上におけるドクター４の
    作用点Ｐよりもロール回転方向下手側部位に、逆
    回転ロール２の周面に溶剤を供給する手段５が設
    けられていることを特徴とするロールコータ。
