【発明の詳細な説明】 〔発明の要約〕 透明なフィルムをたとえば紙、紙状材料、プラスチック
および厚板などの基材に対し接着剤の媒体を介して積層
させ、この接着剤は紫外線または電子ビームにより硬化
することができる。
接着剤には透明フィルムを介し照射して、これをフィル
ムと基材とを合体させる作用により排除された酸素の不
存在下で硬化させる。低粘度と高引火点とを有する高固
形分の接着剤、たとえばメククリレ−1−およびジメタ
クリレートが好適である。
〔発明の属する技術分野〕
本発明は積層接着剤に関し、さらに紫外線および高エネ
ルギ電子ビームに対し透明なフィルムをたとえば紙、紙
状材料、プラスチックおよび厚板などの基材に積層する
ための接着剤に関するものである。
〔従来技術とその問題点〕
包装分野および表紙製造分野においては、透明プラスチ
ックフィルム(たとえば配向されたポリプロピレンまた
はポリエステル)を印刷紙または厚紙に積層して艶を有
し、耐久性でありかつ綺麗な生産物を与えることが知ら
れている。
この公知方法は溶剤または水性の接着剤(30%〜50
%固形分)を使用し、この接着剤をフィルムに塗布した
後これを赤外線加熱にかけて溶剤または水媒体を蒸発さ
せ、がっ硬化を開始される。次いで、このフィルムを紙
または厚紙に施こして、硬化を完結させる。
この方法は、溶剤(これは環境問題上面倒であるか、ま
たは有害であり、或いは高コストである)または水の分
散もしくは回収;積層品の単位面積当りの比較的高い消
費エネルギ;並びに比較的遅い(15〜30m/m1n
)生産速度を伴なう。
〔発明の目的〕 したがって、本発明の目的は、高固形分(100%に近
い)を有する接着剤を使用することができ、かつしたが
って溶剤の問題を伴なわず、照射線(たとえば紫外線ま
たは電子ビーム)により硬化させることができかっした
がって電力消費が低く、しかも使用する照射線源の数に
応じて比較的高い(50〜100 m / min )
生産速度を有する積層方法を提供することである。
本発明は、大気酸素が抑制剤として作用するため、紫外
線硬化性接着剤の硬化が遅くなる傾向を有するという知
見に基づいている。しかしながら、基材に対しフィルム
を積層するという限られた範囲で使用する場合、フィル
ムと暴利とを合体させる簡単な動作によるだけで、硬化
を殆んど酸素のない環境で生ぜしめうるので、硬化が急
速に起りうろことが今回判明した。
〔発明の要点〕
したがって本発明によれば、紫外線および高エネルギ電
子ビームに対し透明なフィルムをたとえば紙、紙状材料
、プラスチックおよび厚板などの基材に積層する方法に
おいて、使用ずべく選択する接着剤を酸素の存在下で前
記紫外線または電子ビームによる硬化が遅いが酸素の不
存在下では硬化が早くなるものとして非黄色硬化生成物
を生成させ、かつ硬化をフィルムと基材とを合体させる
作用により排除された酸素の不存在下にてフィルムを通
る照射線により生ぜしめることを特徴とする積層方法が
提供される。
好適接着材は極めて高含量の固形分(100%にさえな
る)を含有し、かつたとえば21℃にて2.5 cps
という低粘度を有する。代表的な接着剤は、非黄色化光
開始剤と流動添加剤とを含むメタクリレートおよびジメ
タクリレート、並びに対応するアクリレート(たとえば
不飽和ウレタン、ポリエステルおよびエポキシアクリレ
ート)である。この種の接着剤はさらに、高引火点(典
型的には95℃以上)という利点を有する。100%よ
り相当低い固形分を含有する接着剤を使用しうるが、た
とえば赤外線による予備加熱を必要とする。提案される
接着剤は、ゴム配合に使用されるもの、或いはたとえば
PVcプラスチゾル、注型アクリルシートおよび歯科技
術などにおける改良剤として使用しうるものが現在推奨
される。
表紙材料を作成するために本発明を実施する1つの方法
において、厚さ13μを有する配向されたポリプロピレ
ンの透明フィルムを、30〜100 rn / min
の周速を有するローラにて、厚さ300〜600μおよ
びトリエチレングリコールジメタクリレートの被覆を有
する印刷厚板と接触させ、被覆は光開始剤としての1−
ヒドロキシシクロへキシルフェニルケトンと不飽和ウレ
タンアクリレート、ポリエステルアクリレ−1−および
エポキシアクリレートとを含有する。ローラにおける積
層工程の後、この積層品を2個の媒体圧力水銀紫外線ラ
ンプの下に通して、紫外線をフィルムに貫通させかつ接
着剤を硬化させる。
〔発明の効果〕
高固形分(典型的には95〜100%)につき使用する
場合、本発明の方法は任意公知の方法よりも迅速であり
、無駄がなくなり、揮発物がなくなり、引火問題を防止
し、がっ非毒性である。使用する装置は長い赤外線炉が
必要とされないので小型となり、かつ生産物はその艶、
耐久性および透明度が高くなる。

Claims (4)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1) 紫外線および高エネルギ電子ビームに対し透明
    なフィルムをたとえば紙、紙状材料、プラスチックおよ
    び厚板などの基材に積層する方法において、使用すべく
    選択する接着剤を酸素の存在下で前記紫外線または電子
    ビームによる硬化が遅いが、酸素の不存在下では硬化が
    早くなるものとして、非黄色硬化生成物を生成させ、か
    つ硬化をフィルムと基剤とを合体させる作用により排除
    された酸素の不存在下にて、フィルムを通る照射線によ
    り生せしめることを特徴とする積層方法。
  2. (2)接着剤が95〜100%の固形分を含有する特許
    請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。
  3. (3)接着剤が21℃にて約2.5 cps程度の低密
    度を有する特許請求の範囲第2項記載の方法。
  4. (4)接着剤が95℃以上の引火点を有するメタクリレ
    ートまたはジメタクリレートである特許請求の範囲第3
    項記載の方法。
