Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は熱耐塑性樹脂製の段ボールを接合する方法に
関する。
プラスチック段ボールは紙製のものに比べて軽量で耐水
性、耐油性に富み高強度のものも得られるので、各種用
途に多く用いられるようになった。
しかしプラスチック段ボール(以下単に段ボールと称す
る)の端面を他の段ボールの端面またはシ゛−ト面に突
合せて接合しようとする場合、段ボールの材質上および
中空構造であることから接着剤による接合は困難であり
、他にも適当な方法がなかった。
この発明は上記の点にかんがみてなされたもので、段ボ
ールの端面を他の段ボールに直接接合することができる
接合方法を提供しようとするものである。
しかしてこの発明は、熱4+J塑性樹脂製段ボールの端
面と、該端面が接合されるべき他の熱可塑性樹脂製段ボ
ールの被接合部とに、それぞれ加熱刃ることを特徴とす
る熱pJ塑性樹脂製段ボールの接合方法である。
以F第1図、および第2図によってこの発明の一実施例
を説明する。
図中、1および2は段ボールで、いずれもたとえばポリ
プロピレン、ポリエチレンなどの熱+iJ塑性樹脂製で
、上下2枚のシー)1a、lb問および2a12b間に
それぞれたての隔壁1c、2cを押出成形シこより一体
に設けて成る。3は加熱具で、電気ヒータを内蔵する直
棒状の本体4tこ板状の加熱刃5を突設して成る。加熱
具の本体4は図示しないエアシリンダ等により定盤6の
上面に略直交する方向に上下動するよう支持されている
なお加熱刃5の両側面にはシリコンオイルなどの離型剤
を塗布しておくのが好ましい。7は定盤6上に載置した
石綿シート等の断熱板で、加熱刃5および段ボルル1,
2を支承するだめのものである。
段ボール1と2の各端面を接合するには、先ず第1図(
a)に示すように断熱板7上に先端を当接させた加熱刃
5を加熱し、該加熱刃の両側に、接合すべき端面1d、
2dを対向させて段ボール1.2を断熱板7上に載置す
る。加熱刃5の加熱温度はポリプロピレン製段ボールの
場合約180〜200°Cとするのが好ましい。次に両
段ボール112を手あるいは空圧シリンダ等により矢印
方向に駆動して端面1d12dを加熱刃5の側面に押付
ける。これにより各段ボールは加熱刃5により加熱され
て局部的に軟化溶融し、同図(b)に示すように加熱刃
5に沿って軟化溶融部8.9が形成される。次に両段ボ
ール1.2を加熱刃5の側面から離れるよう少量後退さ
せ、加熱具3を上昇させたのち、ずばやく両段ボール1
12を矢印方向に駆動して同図(C)に示すように軟化
溶融部8.9を相互に圧接させる。これを放冷すれば軟
化溶融部8.9は数秒間で冷却固化して両段ボールの突
合せ接合は完了する。段ボール端面の加熱刃5への押付
は開始から接合完了までの所要時間は、加熱刃5の温度
および段ボールの各部肉厚にもよるが、発明者の実験に
よると全厚5朋のポリプロピレン製段ボールの場合、2
0秒前後という短時間ですむ。
第3図(a)〜(C’)はこの発明の他の実施例を示し
、加熱具3の加熱刃5の側面が段ボール1.2の端面1
d、2dに対して傾斜しており、両段ボール112の接
合面lOが傾斜面状となる点のみが第1図の実施例と異
なり、接合面10の面積が大きいため接合強度が大きい
という長所を有するものである。
」二記各実施例によれば、2枚の段ボールを1枚の連続
した平扱状に接合することができるので、段ボールの切
断によって生じた端、目を有効に利用できるとともに、
通常の段ボール製造IIIよりも大きな侵入の段ボール
を得ることもできるので極めてf史不11である。
第4図はこの発明のさらに他の実施例を示し、第1図に
おける段ボールlの端面1dを他の段ボール11のシー
ト面12に接合する場合を示す。
この場合は第4図(a)に示すように段ポールlと同様
な構造の段ボール11を定盤6上に載置して、段ボール
lの全厚にほぼ等しい厚さの加熱された加熱刃5の先端
を、同図(b )に示すように段ボール11のシート面
12の接合ずへき個所に押付け、段ボールlの全厚にほ
ぼ等しい「1−」の軟化溶融部13を形成させる。これ
と並行して第1図に示すのと同様な方法で段ボールlの
端面1 dに軟化溶融部8を形成させ、第4図(lに示
すように軟化溶融部8.13を相互に圧接する形で矢印
で示すように段ボール1を段ボール11のシート面に圧
接し、両軟化溶融部を冷却固化させれば接合は完了する
この実施例によれば断面111字形、11形なと利用範
囲の広い各種形状の段ボールの柱状体の製造や、段ボー
ルXド板への補強用リブの1−1設などを容易におこな
うことができるのである。
上記各実施例においては段ボールの端面が段ボールの隔
壁に直交する場合について説明したが、この他に端面が
隔壁と平行な場合や隔壁に対して任意の角度で変わる場
合や、両段ボールの隔壁の方向が異なる場合でも、上記
と同様にして接合することができる。またたとえば上下
のシート間に多数の突起を形成したシート(中芯)をは
さんで熱接着して製造した段ボールのよう十こ、方向性
のない段ボールも」−記に同様にして接合することがで
きる。
以に説明したようにこの発明によれば、加熱下」Lによ
る軟化溶融部の形成と、該軟化溶融部の圧接という簡潔
な]二程により、迅速に段ボールの端面を他の段ボール
の端面またはシート面に接合することができ、平板状や
異形断面状等の各種形状の段ボールを容易に得ることが
できる。
