Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、使い棄ておむつ、衛生ナプキン、使い棄てベ
ッドパッド、失禁パッド（おねしよぷとん）等の吸収用
具に係り、特に通気性裏シートを使用した吸収用具に関
する。
おむつの如き吸収用具は周知に属し、これらの用具（手
段）は、人体からの液を吸収し、この液を保つ為に用い
られる。
これらの用具の外側を可撓プラスチックシートで掩つて
、吸収された液が吸収用具を透過して衣類を汚す事を防
ぐ様にする事もまた既に知られている。従来技術に於け
る防水プラスチックシートは確かに液の透過を防ぎ、液
を用具内に保つ事を助けるのであるが、同時に吸収用具
を着用者になま温かく不快に感じさせ、よつて焦燥感を
起させ、さらに、保たれた液の蒸発による吸収用具の自
己乾燥が妨げられる。こゝに示す通気性裏シートは、長
時間着用される吸収用具に於て、その吸収体中の液を衣
服から遮断するのに特に有利であり、この様な吸収用具
とは、おむつ、生理ナプキン、外科手術用の包帯類、等
である。吸収用具の内部と周りの大気との間に若干の空
気循環を許す為に、従来技術に於て透過性裏シートに対
する示唆がなされた。
米国特許２５７００１１号は、吸収用具に使用される通
気性裏シートを提供せんとするものであり、吸収部及び
不透過部を有するおむつを示し、上記不透過部は布のお
むつを化学的に処理した部分であり、その外側に向けて
折返えされる。
この不透過部は、尿の透過を防ぐ様に処理される。米国
特許３１５６２４２号は、非吸収可撓フィルムにより掩
われた吸収体を有する吸収用具を示し、上記フィルムは
通気性であり、よつて、その下に保たれた吸収体の乾燥
を許す。
フィルムの通気性は、微ｄ仔Ｌフィルムまたは、孔また
は溝を有するフィルムを用いる事により与えられる。米
国特許２０２７８１０号は、孔のあけられた突起を有し
て液を透過し得る様に設計されたフイルムを示す。
吸収体とＸもに用いられる多孔性サーモプラスチツク帯
に関するその他の従来技術は、米国特許３２９２６１９
号、米国特許３４２６７５４号及び米国特許３４４６２
０８号である。いずれにしても、従来技術に於て？ζ吸
収用具着用の間に吸収体が圧力を受けた時に液を透過さ
せない多孔性裏シートは提供されておらず、さらに、従
来技術に於て未解決の問題は、孔あけされた後も実質的
にその強度を保つ多孔裏シートを提供する事である。
本発明の目的は、ガス透過性であるが液不透過性の裏シ
ートを有する吸収用具を提供するにある。
他の目的は、吸収パツドが圧力を受けた時も液を不透過
に保つ裏シートを有する吸収用具を提供するにある。さ
らに他の目的は、孔あけされ、しかも実質的にその強度
を保つ裏シートを有する吸収用具を提供するにある。
さらに他の目的は、多孔を有し、圧力を受けた時には孔
を閉じる裏シートを有する吸収用具を提供するにある。
本発明による吸収用具は、吸収体及び、その下にある実
質的に液不透過性の裏シートを有し、裏シートは多数の
突起を有し、各突起は孔を有し、各孔は裏シート中の多
孔の一つを形成する。
吸収用具が、人体からの液を受取る様に置かれた時に、
即ち、吸収体が人体と裏シートとの間に置かれた時に、
吸収体により吸収された液は吸収用具内に保たれ、体温
により吸収用具中で作られた水蒸気は裏シート中の多孔
から逸散される。以下添附図面に従つてさらに詳細に説
明するが、図中或る部分の厚さは明確化の為誇張して示
されている。
第１図は、本発明による吸収手段（用具）、特に、使い
棄ておむつ３０を示す。
おむつ３０は、テイツシユ紙、クレープ紙、無織布、適
当な吸収性詰め物（例えば、詰め綿、セルローズ綿毛、
フエルト材料、吸収性天然スポンジ、発泡吸収性材料）
等種々な材料の通常の多層、及び液不透過シートを周知
の如く適当に組合わせて作られる。おむつ３０は裏シー
ト２２を有し、裏シート２２は通常、サーモプラスチツ
ク材料の可撓、液不透過性帯であり、通常、幼児の皮膚
から最も遠く離れて置かれ、吸収体２１中に吸収された
液が透過して衣類を濡らす事を防ぐ。吸収体２１は裏シ
ート２２上に重ねて置かれ、通常、周知の如く、底部テ
イツシユ２３，２４、吸収コア２５及び上部シート２６
からなるが、こＸには、米国再発行特許２６１５１号に
よる形が示されている。吸収体と裏シートとは通常、そ
れらの側端及び（または）両端に於て連結され、中心部
は連結されずに残されるが、実質的に全接触面に亘つて
連結される事もある。裏シート２２は、上述の如く、通
常、サーモプラスチツク材料の可撓帯であり、好適実施
例に於ては、裏シート２２＆ζ ＡｌａｔｈＯｎ３ｌ２
Ｏレジン（Ｅ．Ｉ．ＤｕＰＯｎｔ社製）から作られたポ
リエチレンフイルムの１％ミル（約０．０３２ｍｍ）厚
の帯であるが、勿論他の材料も裏シートとして用いられ
得るのであり、要するに、裏シート材料としての要件は
、可撓性で、液不透過性で、弾力性で、凹凸を打出し得
る事である。
裏シート２２は、第１図及び２図に示す如く打出し及び
孔あけされ、打出された区域２７、及びこの区域２７間
にある打出されてない区域２８を有し、打出されていな
い区域２８は、本発明による吸収手段（例えば使い棄て
おむつ）の着用の間に、打出された区域２７中に生じた
裂断が進行する事を停める役をする。
裏シート２２の好適実施例に於ては、突起２９が多数の
パターン（区画）中に一群として設けられ、上記パター
ンの各々が打出された区域２７を形成する。
突起２９は、第３図及び第４図に示す如く円錐形であり
、第４図にαとして示す如く約３０〜１３５あの含み角
を有するが、この角度は約６０〜１０００である事が望
ましい。上記角度は裏シート２２に厚みを与えるととも
に、つぶれ得る（即ち、使用中のおむつに圧力がかかつ
た時に突起の対向壁がくつつき得る）突起２９を与える
。突起２９が圧力によりつぶされる事は、幼児がおむつ
の潤れた部分上に腰を下した時等裏シートに圧力が加え
られた時に孔が閉じられて流体が裏シートを透過する事
が防がれるので有利である。また突起２９は、第４図に
示す如く、その壁厚が、突起の基部３１に於ては突起の
頂点３２に於けるより大である事が望ましく、この様に
頂点３２に於て薄い事により、頂点３２が＝層可撓性に
なり、圧力がかＸつた時に孔が閉じられ易くなるので有
利である。図示に於ては、好適例として円錐形突起が示
されているが、他の幾何学的形の突起も用いられ得、そ
の一つはピラミツド形の突起である。
突起の形の如何に拘らず突起の含み角と云うのは、突起
の対向内壁間に存在する角度である。好適実施例に於て
は、突起２９は実質的に同じ高さを有し、規則的に間隔
を距てＸ置かれる。
高さ７５〜１００マイクロメータ（０．０７５〜０．１
ｍｍ）の突起が中心距離約２３０マイクロメータ（０．
２３ｍｍ）に置かれた裏シートは良好な性能を示し、ま
た、突起の高さ（後に定義する）が裏シートの厚さの少
くとも１％倍、特に、少くとも２倍である事が望ましい
。突起２９はその中に孔３３を有し、中心孔３３は裏シ
ート中に多孔を形成し、これらの孔を経て熱及び蒸気が
逃げ得るが、液の通過は、たとえ液に僅かな圧力がかＸ
つていても、防止される。
上記孔３３は突起の頂点３２またはその近くにある事が
望ましい。液を吸収した吸収体が圧力を受けた時に液が
孔を通過する事を阻止する為に、孔３３の直径は最大に
於ても約０．１ｍｍであるべきであり、望ましくは約０
．０５ｍｍｓ最も望ましくは約０．０１ｍｍである（こ
Ｘに「孔の直径」と称するのは、孔の中心を通る弦の約
平均の長さを意味する）。本発明の吸収手段に用いられ
る裏シート中の孔の直径＆ζ使用中吸収手段から蒸気を
逃がし得る充分な開口面積を与える寸法と、これらの孔
を液が通る事を防ぎ得る寸法との折衷値である事を要す
る。孔３３の直径は、孔の周りの突起の区域中のフイル
ムの厚さより実質的に大である事が望ましい。また、孔
３３は、第３図に示す如く平滑な周辺、即ち、亀裂また
は割れ目の如き応力集中点を持たない周辺端、を有する
事を要する。
と云うのぱ、応力集中点を有する孔は、薄いサーモプラ
スチツク中に於てフイルムを甚だしく弱くし、使い棄て
おしめの着用等通常の使用の間に、引き裂きを進行させ
る。孔３３は裏シート２２に、熱及び蒸気が通過し得る
開口区域を与え、この区域の面積が、一定時間内に裏シ
ートから逃げ得る蒸気の量を決定する。
吸収手段内部からの蒸気及び熱の逸散を有効にする為に
、孔３３は裏シートの逸散区域上に均等に分布される事
を要し、裏シートの開口区域面積は裏シートの有効面積
の約％〜１０％であるべきであり、約１〜５％である事
が望ましい。こＸに「裏シートの有効面積］と称するの
は、裏シート全体が透過性であるとした場合に透過が行
われ得る理論的面積を意味する。この様な有効面積は、
少くとも第１図中に示した折重ね端３４及び両端３５を
除く。これらの端３４及び両端３５は、吸収手段が用い
られる時に吸収体２１と手段の周りの大気との間の障壁
の部分を形成しないので、裏シートの有効面積の部分と
はならない。こＸに示した裏シート、特にサーモプラス
チツク帯の強度は、帯の厚さ、レジンの種類、打出され
た区域の打出されてない区域に対する比等種々な因子に
より変化する。
こＸに示した裏シートに於ては、打出された区域２７の
面積の打出されてない区域２８の面積に対する比は、裏
シート２２中に生じた引き裂きの伝播を防止する為に重
要であり、一例としては、打出された区域と打出されな
い区域との比が約３：１より大でない事が適当である。
さらに、打出された区域２７を形成する突起２９の各パ
ターン（区画）に約１１ｎ２（約６．５ｃｒ１ｉ）より
小であり、各打出された区域２７は隣りの打出された区
域２７から少くとも％Ｉｎ（約３．２ｍｍ）巾の打出さ
れてない区域により距てられる事が望ましい。裏シート
２２は、突起２９の先端が吸収体２１に向けられている
方が一層液不透過性となるので、この様に突起２９が吸
収体２１に向けられる事が望ましい。
しかし、突起は必ずしも吸収体中に突き入れられる事を
要せず、事実、裏シートと吸収体との主接触点は突起の
頂点にあり、突起２９の頂点３２１虱第１図、第２図及
び第３図に示す如く吸収体２１に接して置かれる。本発
明による吸収手段の試験片が次の如く作られた。
即ち、ＡｌａｔｈＯｎ３ｌ２Ｏレジンから作られた１．
２５ｍｉ１（約０．０３２詣）厚のポリエチレンフイル
ムが、各個の突起が規則的に配置される様に打出し及び
孔あけされた。各パターンは％Ｉｎ×％Ｉｎ（約１２．
７ｍ１Ｌ×１２．７ｍｍ）の正方形であり、よつて％１
ｘ％１の打出された区域が形成された。各パターンは隣
りのパターンから％Ｉｎ（約３．２ｍｍ）巾の打出され
ない区域により距てられた。各パターン中の突起は実質
的に円錐形であり、頂点に孔をあけられ、各突起内の含
み角は約７５〜８０孔であり、ポリエチレンフイルムの
裏側（即ち、突起の頂点から遠い側）からの突起の高さ
は約０．０７５ｍｍであつた。各突起中の孔の直径は約
０．０５０ｍｍであり、隣接突起間の中心距離は約０．
２３０ｍｍであり、従つて、この打出されて孔をあけら
れサーモプラスチツクシートは、シートの有効面積の約
２．０％の開口区域面積を有した。ついで、４％Ｉｎ×
４％Ｉｎ（約１１４×１１４ｍｍ）の打出されて孔をあ
けられた裏シート上に中心を合わせて４１ｎ（１００ｍ
ｍ）平方の吸収体上に重ねられ、裏シート中の打出され
た正方形パターンの端１１ζ第１図に示す如く吸収体の
端に対して対角線的に置かれた。吸収体は、約０．０１
７７／Ｃｒｌｉの基重量を有するエアフエルトの実質的
に均等な層と、約０．００４７／ｃ殖の基重量を有する
テイツシユ層とから成り、従つて吸収体の合計基重量は
約０．０２１７／Ｃｄであつた。裏シートの端は折返え
されて吸収体の端上に接着剤で接着された。実例 １ 上述の試片に対し、吸収体１７当り６ｙの液が加えられ
た。
液は１％ＮａＣｌ水溶液であり、ＲＯｈｍ＆ＨａａｓＣ
ｈｅｍｉｃａｌ社製のＴｒｉｔＯｎＸｌＯＯ表面活性剤
により表面張力を４５ｄｙｎｅＡ−ｍに下げられたもの
が用いられた。この試片の裏シート中の突起は吸収体に
向けられていた。液を加えられた試片は、打出されて孔
をあけられた裏シートを下方にして、１２ｃＴｎ直径の
Ｗｌｌａｔｍａｎｊｌ）．４沢紙（Ｗ．ａｎｄＲ．Ｂａ
ｌｓｔＯｎＬｔｄ．Ｅｎｇｌａｎｄ製）の二層と接触し
て置かれた、即ち、裏シートが吸収体と沢紙との間にあ
る様に置かれた。ついで、液を加えられた試片に、１９
．７ｃｄの円形面積上に７０．４７／Ｃｄの圧力がかけ
られた。Ｐ紙は、液を加えられて加圧された試片がこれ
と接触する前に重量を測定された。試片中の裏シートの
液不透過性は次の如くして測定された。液を加えられて
加圧された試片は２分間沢紙と接触させられ、その後沢
紙が取出されて再計重され、次に、沢紙は再び、液を加
えられて加圧された試片にさらに５分間接触させられた
後、取出されて再計重され、さらに再び沢紙は、液を加
えられて加圧された試片にさらに８分間接触させられた
後取出されて再計重された。２分間、７分間及び１５分
間に沢紙に吸収された液の量は、後掲の表１に示す如く
、０．０８、０．１３及び０．１６７であつた。
吸収体に向けられた突起を有する打出されて孔をあけら
れた裏シートは、吸収体中の加圧液に対して実質的に液
不透過性の障壁を与えた。実例 用いられた試片は実例１の場合と同様であるが、円錐形
突起は、吸収体に向けて内方へでは無く、外方へ、即ち
吸収体から遠ざかる方向に向けられた。
試片に液を加える事及び加圧する事及び、液不透過性試
験方法は実例１と同様に行われた。この試験結果は後掲
の表１に示す如くである。吸収体から遠ざかる方向に向
けられた突起を有する打出されて孔あけされた裏シート
は吸収体中の液に対して満足す可き障壁を与えるが、障
壁の効果は実例１の場合より若干悪い。実例 用いられた試片は実例１の場合と同じである。
試片には、パツド中の吸収体の１７当り、表面張力４５
ｄｙｎｅ／Ｃｍの液６７が加えられ、ついで液は、打出
されて孔をあけられた裏シートにより掩われた面と反対
側の試片の面上に、孔をあけられてないポリエチレンフ
イルムを置く事により試片中にシールされ、上記無孔フ
イルムはプラスチツクテープにより試片に接着され、よ
つて、封入された吸収体が作られた。ついで、この封入
された吸収体を有する試片は、打出されて孔をあけられ
た裏シートを上向きにしてテーブル上に約１６時間置か
れ、室温状態（約２１℃）に於ける蒸発損失が、加液さ
れた試片の最初の重量から１６時間後の加液された試片
の重量を差引く事により測定された。打出されて孔をあ
けられた裏シートの有効面積は、無孔ポリエチレンフイ
ルムを試片に取付けるに用いられたプラスチツクテープ
により端の部分が掩われる事によつて約３．５×３．５
１ｎ（約８．９Ｘ８．９０ｒ１Ｌ）に減ぜられた。試片
からの液の蒸発損失は９．０ｙ即ち、裏シートの１００
ｃｒＡ当り０．７１ｙ／Ｈｒであつた。吸収体に向けら
れた突起を有する、打出されて孔をあけられた裏シート
は、吸収手段用として容認され得る蒸気透過性を与えた
。
実例 用いられた吸収手段は実例の場合と同様であり、加液さ
れた吸収体は封入されたが、突起は吸収体から遠ざかる
方向に外方に向けられた。
この試片からの蒸発損失は９．２ｙ、即ち、裏シートの
１００ｃｒＡ当り０．７３ｆ７／Ｈｒであつた。吸収体
から遠ざかる方向に向けられた突起を有する、打出され
て孔をあけられた裏シートは、吸収手段用として容認さ
れ得る蒸気透過性を与えた。下掲の表１のデータは、本
発明による使い棄ておしめが、夜間着用の間に極めて自
己乾燥し易い事及び、実質的に液不透過性の裏シートを
有するおしめを提供するものである事を示す。通常の使
い棄ておしめは、約１２×１６１ｎ２（約３０×４０ｃ
ｄ）の輪郭を有し、４７７の吸収材を含み、裏シートの
有効面積は約１９２１ｎ２（約１．２４０ｃｒ！ｉ）で
ある。従つて、実例の結果に基いて、この様なおむつの
１２時間着用の間、約７０′Ｆ（約２ＦＣ）に於て、約
１０７７の蒸発された液が、打出されて孔をあけられた
裏シートを通して逃がされ得る等である。実際に於ては
、着用者の体温は約１００′Ｆ（約３７．５℃）である
から、おむつ内で蒸発されて裏シートから逃がされる液
の量は増大される。この程度の蒸発損失は、幼児が朝「
びしよ濡れ］になつている事を防ぎ、焦燥感の発生を少
くする事を助ける。以上より明らかなる如く、冒頭に述
べた目的及び利点を完全に満足する吸収手段（用具）が
こｋに提供されたのである。

す、一部切欠斜視図、第２図は第１図中の裏シートの一

打出された区域、２８・・・・・・裏シートの打出され
てない区域、２９・・・・・・突起、３２・・・・・・

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. １ 吸収体と、実質的に液不透過性材料からなり前記吸
    収体に直接接触しかつ吸収体に対しほぼ完全に重ね合わ
    される裏シートとを有し、この裏シートは前記吸収体方
    向に突出したテーパの形成された多数の突起を備え、各
    突起は、その頂点を通過し前記吸収体から離れる方向に
    拡開されるテーパの形成された気孔を裏シート内に構成
    する孔を備えており、前記吸収体が人体および裏シート
    間に位置されるようにして人体からの排出物のような液
    を受け入れるように吸収用具を位置せしめたときに、前
    記吸収体により吸収され吸収体内に含まれた液が前記裏
    シートを介して通過することを阻止され、他方蒸気は裏
    シートの気孔を介して速やかに逸散されるように前記気
    孔の寸法が選定されている吸収用具。
