Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate ink ribbons by providing a printing head that selectively melts thermally meltable ink on an ink ribbon and a ribbon cooling device.
CONSTITUTION: A transfered ink ribbon has its ink melted by means of a heated plate 18, when a ribbon 4 is slid. As the ribbon advances, both ends of a film in the range 5a is pulled to the center of the ribbon during passing of the film under the blades 19 and 19b of a scraper. Because the blades are inclined against the direction of movement of the ribbon, the ink is concentrated so as to make its width smaller and a thick layer of ink is formed. The blade 25 expands the ink in the direction to form a regenerated film 5c and eradicates completely printed images. Then a fan 28 cools the ink film until the ink solidifies, thereby regenerating the ribbon.
