Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a thermal printer of which the transfer medium can be reused by uniformly diffusing ink on the medium through heating the medium either at least before or after printing. CONSTITUTION:When this thermal printer makes transfer printing of printing paper, a heat-resistant layer, i.e. transfer medium (printing tape), PT provided with a heat-melting material is placed on recording paper, a thermal head TH is placed on the back of the layer and the material is melted by the heating of the head TH. Heating rollers H1 and H2 are provided to heat the tape PT before or after printing. Having heater wires for example inside, the rollers H1 and H2 are heated on power supply. The temperature thereof is set to about 80 deg.C. While the tape PT stops, the rollers H1 and H2 are drawn back in arrow b1 and b2 directions for avoiding the overheat of the tape PT.
