Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the durability of a steam turbine rotor assembly in which rotors are directly and coaxially connected to each other, by providing thrust bearing surfaces on the middle rotor made of non-austenitic alloy and interposed between the two other rotors made of austenitic tough steel.
CONSTITUTION: A middle rotor 19 made of non-austenitic material is secured between a high and a medium pressure rotors 1', 2 made of austenitic tough steel. A thrust bearing 12 is provided on the central part of the middle rotor 19. As means for securing the rotor 19 between the others 1', 2, cut-out couplings 20, 21 on both the ends of the rotor 19 and opposed shrink-fitting couplings 23, 9 are tightened on each other by bolts 10. To provide the thrust bearing 12 on the rotor 19, flange-shaped thrust carrying parts 22, 22 are manufactured and the bearing 12 is fitted between the opposed thrust carrying surfaces of the flange-shaped parts. As a result, enough strength and toughness are maintained even if operation is effected with steam at as high temperature as 556°C.
