Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the thermal fatigue resistance of a rotor shaft for a steam turbine at high temp. by manufacturing the shaft with a forged high Ni-Cr alloy having specified Ni equiv. and Cr equiv. and contg. γ' phase precipitated in the austenite matrix.
CONSTITUTION: A rotor shaft for a steam turbine is manufactured with a forged alloy contg. γ' phase precipitated in the austenite matrix and having a composition contg. 0.01W0.15% C, <2% si, <3% Mn, 20W30% Ni, 10W20% Cr, 0.5W3% Mo, 1W3% Ti and 0.0001W0.03% B while satisfying 23W29 Ni equiv. calculated by an equation Ni%+30×C%+0.5×Mn% and 12W(Ni equiv.×7/10+9) Cr equiv. calculated by an equation Cr%+Mo%+1.5xSi%. A rotor with superior thermal fatigue resistance to steam even at 600W650°C high temp. is obtd.
