Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the thermal impact resistance, PbO corrosion resistance and machinability of a Fe-Ni-Cr type austenitic cast steel by adding Nb, W, Mo and S to the steel.
CONSTITUTION: A heat resistant austenitic cast steel contg. C; 0.1W1.5%, Si; 0.5W5.0%, Mn<2.5%, Cr; 15W35%, Ni; 8W45%, Nb; 0.2W5.0% and W; 0.5W 3.0%, and optionally contg. Mo; 0.5W2.0% or S; 0.05W0.25%. By adding Nb and W in combination with each other to a usual Fe-Ni-Cr type austenitic cast steel, their fine carbide is dispersed in the austenite matrix to enhance the thermal impact resistance. Mo is dissolved in the austenite matrix to enhance the PbO corrosion resistance at high temp. The addn. of S enhances the machinability.
