Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a water apparatus with superior erosion resistance by forming the surface layer of at least a part worn by cavitation erosion with a specified phase of iron contg. a specified percentage each of C, Si, Cr, Ni, Mn and Mo.
CONSTITUTION: A surface layer consisting of, by wt., 10W20% Cr, 0.5W10% Ni and 2W20% Mn as principal components, ≤0.2% C, ≤2% Si, ≤2% Mo and the balance essentially Fe or further contg. at least one kind of 0.01W0.1% Nb and 0.5W5% Co is formed on at least a part worn by cavitation erosion. This surface layer is made of steel contg. ε phase or austenite phase and not contg. ferrite phase practically. Thus, the cavitation erosion resistance is improved remarkably.
