Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive exhaust valve steel capable of coping with the improvement of an engine in performance by especially restricting the contents of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Ti and Al in a steel composition.
CONSTITUTION: This exhaust valve steel alloy consists of 0.01W0.20% C, ≤2.0% Si, ≤2.0% Mn, 25W50% Ni, 13W23% Cr, 1.5W3.5% Ti, 0.1W1.5% Al and the balance essentially Fe or further contains one or more among ≤3.0% Mo, ≤3.0% W, ≤2.0% Nb, ≤1.0% V, ≤0.5% Zr, ≤0.05% B, etc. In the soln. heat treatment and aging of the alloy γ'-phase Ni3(AlTi) is formed in the austenite matrix to ensure high temp. strength and corrosion resistance. This alloy is equal to a conventional Ni-base alloy in performance, and it is obtd. more inexpensively.
