Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an alloy with superior high temp. hardeness, thermal impact resistance and vanadium attack resistance for diesel engine valves and valve seats by adding Cr, W, Mn, etc. to a Co-Ni alloy.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy consists of C 1.0W3.5%, Si 0.1W2.0%, Mn 0.1W2.0%, W 5W20%, Cr 20W40%, Ni 25W50%, Mo 0.1W1.99% and the balance essentially of Co or further contains Fe 1W30%. Since this alloy has superior high temp. hardness, thermal impact resistance and vanadium attack resistance, it is fit for castings and build-up welding of valves and valve seats of a diesel engine especially using fuel oil contg. V, S and Na.
