Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a slip among wheels of a gas turbine rotor composed of multiple wheels by alternately arranging binding bolts with the same coefficient of thermal expansion as that of the wheel and with the lower coefficient.
CONSTITUTION: 3 wheels 1 and a shaft 2 are bound tight by 8 bolts 3a and 8 bolts 3b alternately. A286, the same material as the wheel 1, is used for the bolt 3a, and heat resistant steel of Cr-Mo family with the lower coefficient of thermal expansion than A286 is used for the bolt 3b. The bolt 3a is bound as tight as possible within the extent that its binding stress does not exceed the permissible tensile stress σu,which is 0.5 times of its yield strength under a normal temperature and a non-operating condition. The bolt 3b is bound as tight as possible within the extent that its binding stress does not exceed σμ, estimating the shrinkage in the direction of the wheel axle caused by the wheel temperature and the centrifugal force under a normal operating condition. Accordingly, the average binding stress of both bolts never fall below the tensile stress σ1 which does not generate a slip.
