Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a bearing portion and a coupling portion of a rotor for a steam turbine from damages, by joining the central portion of the rotor made of 12% chrome steel and opposite end portions made of a low-alloy steel together by way of electroslug remelting process, and thereby eliminating problems caused by a rotor structure obtained by way of shrinkage fit process.
CONSTITUTION: A rotor disk portion is made of 12% chrome steel 11 while the portion of the rotor near a bearing and a coupling portion are made of a low- alloy steel 9 by way of forging. Here, the above two parts of the rotor are coupled together at a joining portion 10 by way of electroslug remelting process. By thus manufacturing the rotor, the bearing portion and the coupling portion can be protected against damages since they are made of the low- alloy steel 9 excellent in its friction characteristics, and at the same time, to increase the strength of the disk portion since it is made of 12% chrome steel excellent in resisting a high temperature and a high stress.
