Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve machinability of a turbine hub and to reduce the weight of the same, by dividing the turbine hub into a first and a second hub portions which are both slidable in the axial direction, fixed in the direction of rotation, but can be turned together in a unitary manner. CONSTITUTION:In a fluid coupling of this invention, a turbine hub 8 is composed of a first hub 10 and a second hub 11. The first hub 10 is coupled to a direct coupled clutch 5 while the second hub 11 is coupled to a turbine runner 3. Thus, since the first and the second hubs 10, 11 are divided separately from each other, machining of the hub can be facilitated as compared with a unitary one. Further, since the first and the second hubs 10, 11 are coupled to each other by means of spline and either one of the two hubs 10, 11 is coupled to an output shaft 9 also by means of spline, vibration caused at the time of coupling and uncoupling the clutch 5 can be absorbed. Further, if off-setting is caused in manufacturing the hubs, it can be absorbed by the spline coupling. Therefore, it is enabled to increase durability of the turbine hub and to make it compact and light.
