Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent white smoke from coming out of a cooling tower, by facilitating mixing of a wet and a dry air by solidly crossing them alternately, by arranging horizontal dampers to the bottom of a mixing chamber of wet and dry air, confronted by a cooling section of wet type, and vertical dampers to the side walls of the mixing chamber, confronted by a cooling section of dry type.
CONSTITUTION: The dry air exchanges heat with the hot water in a tube of dry type cooling section 2, increasing its temperature, and is fed into a mixing chamber 5 through vertical dampers 9. On the other hand, the hot water cooled in a dry type cooling section 2 is fed into a wet type cooling section 3, cooled further by exchanging heat with the air introduced to the section 3 by directly contacting with the surface of filling layer, and is reserved in a water tank 4. The wet air W produced in the tank 4 is fed into a mixing chamber 5 through horizontal dampers 7, mixed with the dry air D, and is exhausted to an exhaust port 10.
