Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the thermal efficiency by a method wherein a heat exchanger has a slender rectangular section. CONSTITUTION:The heat exchanger 2 arranged at the lower part of a hot water storage tank 1 is divided by a partition plate 13 into an upper stage 14 and a lower stage 15. A burner 3 is equipped at the opening of the upper stage 14 and a fan 8 is connected through an exhaust joint 16 to the lower stage 15. The exhaust port of the fan 8 is connected to an exhaust tube 9, at the tip of which an exhaust top 10 is equipped. The equipment is so constituted that the heat of the exhaust gas in the upper stage 14 flows by heat-exchanging through the partition plate 13 to the exhaust gas in the lower stage 15 and the heat-exchanged exhaust gas is discharged through the exhaust joint 16 from the exhaust top 10. Because a large temperature difference between the temperature of the exhaust gas and that of the water can be obtained due to the constitution described above, the heat transfer rate can be improved and furthermore, because the flow velocity of the combustion gas is faster than that in the case of no partition plate being provided, the turbulency of the combustion gas flow is accelerated, resulting in improving the heat exchanging efficiency.
