Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively dehydrate a coagulated and precipitated sludge in a simple operation by a method wherein an acid treated sludge comprising adding an acid to a part of the coagulated and precipitated sludge and a residual part of said coagulated and precipitated sludge to which a dehydrating aid is added are mixed and, thereafter, the resulting mixture is dehydrated.
CONSTITUTION: A coagulated and precipitated sludge 2 from a precipitation basin 1 is flowed into a primary thickener 3 to be precipitated and concentrated therein and a part of the obtained concentrated sludge 4 is introduced into an acid mixing tank 5 to add a mineral acid 6 thereto and the acid treated sludge 4' prepared therein by stirring is further concentrated in a secondary thickener 7 and a supernatant liquid is separated to be introduced into a mixing tank 9. To the residual concentrated sludge from the primary thickener 3, a dehydrating aic 10 is added and the obtained non-acid treated sludge 4" is introduced into the mixing tank 9 to be mixed with an appropriate amount of the acid treated sludge 4' under stirring and, thereafter, the resulting mixture is subjected to dehydration treatment in a dehydrator 11 such as a filter press or the like to discharge a dehydrated cake 12. As the aforementioned dehydrating aid, slaked lime, a org. high molecular coagulant, other inorg. coagulants can be used.
