Abstract

PURPOSE: To remarkably lower a running cost for a coagulation step, by separating organic sludge into dewatered cake and an effluent, and reusing the separated effluent for coagulation in the coagulation step.
CONSTITUTION: Organic sludge 1 is mixed with a ferric chloride solution 3 as a substance capable of dissociating an iron ion in an agitation vessel 2, and then with a mineral acid 4, and agitated. Thereafter, the mixture is separated into dewatered cake 6 and an effluent 7 by a mechanical dehydrator 5. Untreated water 8 to be subjected to coagulating precipitation receives the supply of the separated effluent 7 and is agitated by a rotary blade 24 in a flocculator 9. A high-molecular flocculant 10 is then added to the treated water, and subjected to precipitation in a coagulating precipitation vessel 11. Thus, purified water 12 after the coagulating precipitation is obtained. On the other hand, precipitating sludge 13 is returned to the front of the agitation vessel 2, mixed with the organic sludge 1, and treated again.
