Abstract

PURPOSE: To dehydrate sludge at low cost by the existing sludge-dehydrating facilities without producing pollutants, by using the existing facilities, ultra-fine pulverized coal and a high-molecular coagulant.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge in waste water is separated therefrom and concentrated. The existing facilities for dehydrating the concentrated sludge by using an inorganic coagulant such as ferric chloride or slaked lime is utilized. However, the ultra-fine pulverized coal and the high-molecular coagulant are used instead of the inorganic coagulant. The ultrafine pulverized coal and high-molecular coagulant are supplied by a pump from an ultra-fine pulverized coal tank 1 and a high- molecular coagulant tank 2 to a mixing tank 4, wherein these substances are mixed with the concentrated sludge 3 to coagulate it to flocks 4a. The coagulated sludge 4a is divided into dehydrated cakes 5b and filtered liquid 5c by a dehydrator 5. The filtered liquid 5c is conducted to a filtered liquid disposal system A. The grain size of the ultra-fine pulverized coal is not larger than 170 mesh.
