Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform advanced treatment of biologically purified water and an improvement on the dehydrating property of excess biological sludge, by adding a ferric flocculant to mixed slurry discharged from biological purification of organic waste liquid, oxidizing an effluent separated in a concentration step, and subjecting the effluent to solid-liquid separation.
CONSTITUTION: Crude night soil 31 is treated in a biological purifying step 32, and sludge is partially removed. The resultant mixed slurry 37 is fed through an anaerobic storing vessel 38 into an agitation vessel 39, where ferric chloride 40 is added. The slurry is separated into concentrated sludge 42 and an effluent 43 under acidic condition in a thickenning step 41. The effluent 43 is introduced into an oxidizing vessel 45, where an oxidizing agent 44 is added to oxidize Fe2+ into Fe3+. The effluent from the oxidizing vessel 45 is treated in a SS-removing step 46 to remove SS and converted into highly purified water 47. On the other hand, the concentrated sludge 42 is improved in its dehydrating property by addition of the ferric chloride 40, so that the sludge can be dehydrated as such into dehydrated cakes 51 having a low water-contg. ratio (60W65% or so) by a filter press 49.
