PURPOSE:To intercept unnecessary stray light incident upon an infrared rays detecting element by installing an insulating layer for shading on the surface of a cooling unit that faces the lower end of a cold shield in a form to pack the gap of the cooling unit. CONSTITUTION:A layer of insulator 12 is provided on the surface of a cooling unit that faces the lower end of a cold shield 8 installed on a cooling unit 4 in a form to fill up a gap 10 betwen the lower end of the cold shield 8 and cooling unit 4. The layer of insulator 12 for shading is made of, for instance, ceramics and laminated on an electrode lead wire substrate 4c made of ceramics and provided with lead out wires to form semilunar shape. The cold shield 8 is connected to a cooling base 4a so as to adhere the layer of insulator 12 for shading closely to the lower end of the cold shield 8.
