Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a thin strip of an amorphous magnetic alloy in the characteristics in a heat treatment process by heat-treating the strip having a specified magnetostriction constant at a temp. below the Curie point while applying a pressure to a strip surface in the perpendicular direction. CONSTITUTION:A thin strip of an amorphous magnetic alloy having a magnetostriction constant lambda (-1X10<-6=lambda<0) such as Fe2.6Co71.6Mn2.8Si13.5B13.5 is heat- treated at a temp. below the Curie point while applying a pressure to a strip surface in the perpendicular direction. Since the Curie point of said alloy is about 280 deg.C, for example, said heating temp. is adjusted to 200 deg.C. By conducting the heat treatment in such a way, the alloy undergoes no deterioration in the magnetic characteristics, that is, no reduction in the permeability.
