Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the residual magnetic flux density of a magnetic core of an amorphous magnetic alloy and allow the core show favorable characteristics as a magnetic core by applying an external magnetic field having a linear magnetic field axis to the core while heating the core.
CONSTITUTION: While heating a magnetic core made of thin sheet of an amorphous magnetic alloy at a temp. below the crystallization temp. and Curie point of the alloy, usually ≥200°C, an external magnetic field having an almost linear magnetic field axis is applied to the core. The applying direction is suitably decided upon the composition of the alloy and required B-H characteristics, and the intensity of the magnetic field is ≥ about 100e by which the core is almost satd. By this treatment the residual magnetic flux density of the core is lowered, and the difference between saturation magnetic flux density and residual magnetic flux density can be made larger. The resulting core is suitable for use as a magnetic core for a principal transformer or various coils.
