Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head of a vertical magnetization type that provides sufficient vertical magnetizing recording without entailing an evil influence of magnetic saturation for even a magnetic recording medium of high coercive force. CONSTITUTION:Main magnetic pole 2 is made of a thin magnetic film of high permeability formed in close contact with the flank of flank member 3 made of a cuboid magnetic body of high permeability. Coil 4 is wound around primary magnetic pole 2 and flank member 3, and at a position close to magnetic tape 1, it is wound more and more times as it comes closer and closer to its tip part. The magnetomotive force of flank member 3 by the excitation of coil 4 increases toward the tip part and the magnetic flux focuses; and the magnetic saturation of flank part 3 is therefore made near the tip part, performing effective vertical magnetizing recording.
