Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve magnetic characteristics of quenched strip of high silicon steel so that they may be suitable for making iron core, etc., by annealing quenched strip of high silicon steel in a specific atmosphere cotaining S. CONSTITUTION:Quenched strip of high silicon steel forme through double roll method, etc., is annealed in an atmosphere where the total pressure Ptotal is >=10<-7> Torr at 1,000-1,300 deg.C temperature. A gas of sulphur or a sulphur compound, such as H2S, etc., is supplied to the atmosphere under a condition which meets the condition shown by the specified formula. When this annealing treatment is applied, an accumulation crystals in the directio (100)[okl]in the surface layer of strips becomes conpicuous and Hc value declines, and, therefore, excellent magnetic characteristics are obtained.
