Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a plating bath from being polluted by elution of an Al core material, in a cathode for cu plating prepared by using Al as a core material and coating the same with an insoluble metal, by interposing a Cu layer between the Al core material and the coating material of the insoluble metal.
CONSTITUTION: As a cathode used in Cu plating, a surface of an Al core material is coated with Cu in a thickness of 0.2W2mm and, thereafter, an insoluble metal such as stainless steel, Ti, Ta, Nb, Pt or the like is coated thereon by welding or the like. Even if a plating bath is invaded in said insoluble metal due to inferior weld, pinholes, impact during use, cracks due to fatigue or the like, because of the Cu intermediate coating layer, it is not reached to Al, pollution of the plating bath due to elution of Al is not generated.
