Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart corrosion resistance and paint adhesiveness by applying electric tin plating having specific thickness on a cold rolled steel sheet then depositing chromium having specific thickness thereon by chemical treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Electric tin plating of 0.05W1.12g/m2 is applied on a cold rolled steel sheet, and is subjected to heat treatment at above or below the m.p. of tin, or otherwise it is not subjected to the heat treatment, whereby an extra-thin tin-plated steel sheet is produced. Chemical treatment is applied as after treatment to this tin- plated steel sheet, to allow 0.5W5mg/m2 chromium to deposit. A bath consisting essentially of Cr6+ is used for the bath which deposits chromium on the surface.
