Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the resistance seam weldability and rust resistance of a very thinly thinned steel plate by depositing metallic chromium and chromium oxide hydrate on the surfaces of the steel plate in a prescribed thickness by electrolytic treatment in a prescribed chromic acid soln.
CONSTITUTION: Both sides of a steel plate for surface treatment are tinned in 0.15W1.12g/cm2 amount of tin. The tinned steel plate is immersed in a soln. contg. chromic anhydride as a principal component and a fluorine compound as an assistant, and it is subjected to elelectrolytic chromic acid treatment as a cathode to deposite 5W50mg/m2 metallic chromium and 5W50mg/m2 as chromium of chromium oxide hydrate on the plate surfaces. Thus, the resistance seam weldability and rust resistance are enhanced.
