Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain titled articles which have specular gloss on the surfaces of the articles to be treated, exhibit a black or blue color and have superior adhesive strength and corrosion resistance by using an ordinary acidic Rh plating bath contained with an org. carboxylic acid (salt) as an additive.
CONSTITUTION: The plating bath prepd. by contg. an org. carboxylic acid (salt) as an additive in an ordinary acidic Rh plating bath is used in applying plating treatment on the surfaces of decorative articles, particularly, spectacles, watches, personal ornaments, dinner ware, and the like. As a result, the black or blue Rh plated articles consisting of applying plating exhibiting a black or blue color on the surfaces of said articles to be treated are obtained. Ordinary Rh salts, for example, surfaces, phosphates and the like are used for the Rh salt used for said plating bath. As the additive, for example, acetic acids, benzoic acids, etc. are used for the org. carboxylic acid (salt). Further, it is preferable to use the plating bath at ≤6pH.
