Abstract

PURPOSE:To form copper coating excellent in adhesive property on the surface of stainless steel, by immersing the stainless steel in the bath of molten copper chloride contg. excess copper at a limited temp. CONSTITUTION:Austenitic stainless steel is immersed either in a bath of copper chloride, into which is added powder or lump of copper, or in a bath of copper chloride contained in a copper vessel, both the baths having excess copper. After treatment in the bath at 450-700 deg.C for about 5 min., the stainless steel is taken out, cooled to ordinary temp., and washed with water. This method permits manufacture of copper-coated stainless steel having simultaneously corrosion resistance and adhesive property. The product is extensively used for construction materials, kitchen furniture, various apparatus and parts for industries, or decorations.
