Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the surface of a decorative part with a thin plating layer having high corrosion resistance and uniformity in thickness and color tone by using a gold or silver plating solution having different liquid compositions, while applying one composition for continuous plating and the other for pulse plating.
CONSTITUTION: When applying gold or silver plating on the surface of the decorative part, continuous and pulse plating operations are performed with plating solutions of different compositions in sequential and combinational manner. The process provides finished plating surface of beautiful gold or silver having uniformity in color tone and thickness. The obtained corrosion resistance is higher than excepted from its thickness and therefore a thin surface finish can be obtained without reducing the appearance effect of finely fabricated surface of base material.
