Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a paint film which is excellent in chipping resistance and corrosion resistance by a method in which a cation type electrodeposition paint is coated on a metal element and baked, and then the paint film is further coated with a solution type metallic base paint and then with a clear powder paint, followed by baking.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a metal element to be coated is pretreated by derusting, defatting, and forming treatment, coated with a cation type electrodeposition paing, and then baked. Then, the surface of the paint film is further coated with an epoxy resin or polyester resin powder paint as an intermediate coat by an usual electrodeposition coating method and then baked. Then, the intermediate coat film is further coated with a solution type metallic base paint as a top coat by an usual coating method and then baked, and the top coat not baked is coated with a clear powder paint by an arbitrary method and then baked for hardening.
