Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a high corrosion resistant surface-treated steel sheet improved in its paint adhesiveness and the corrosion resistance of the ground layer after coated with paint, by electroplating the two surfaces of a steel sheet with an anticorrosion zinc-type layer, and selectively heating its one surface to alloy the coating layer with the surface of the substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The two surfaces of a steel sheet useful as a car part or the like are electroplated with a corrosion-resistant Zn type layer such as Zn, Zn-Ni or Zn-Al. Thereafter, its one surface only is heated to alloy the coating layer with ground iron on the surface of the substrate. This alloyed surface is handled as a ground surface to be coated with paint. The thickness of the corrosion resistant layer on the ground surface to be coated is controlled at 0.5W20g/m2, while that of the coating layer on the opposite surface is controlled at 40W100g/m2 as Zn-plate or 10W40g/m2 as Zn-Ni or Zn-Al-plate. According to this treatment, the coated steel sheet is turned into a state excellent in its paint adhesiveness and corrosion resistance after coated with paint, without injuring weldability.
