Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain Cr plating bath capable of producing excellent plated surface easily, by adding one kind of amino acid or carboxylic acid, Al salt, ammonium ion, aromatic carboxylic acid, etc. to solution containing trivalent Cr.
CONSTITUTION: A Cr plating bath is prepared by adding chromium chloride, chromium sulfate, etc. as trivalent Cr ion source by 0.2mol concentration to saturated concentration, amino acid having the number of carbons of not more than 5, carboxylic acid, oxycarboxylic acid, or salt thereof, by 0.2 to 4 times mol concentration of trivalent Cr, aluminium salt such as aluminium sulfate as lustering agent by 0.1 to 2mol concentration, ammonium ion such as ammonium chloride as conductivity improving agent by not less than 0.2mol concentration, aromatic carboxylic acid, aromatic sulfonic acid, aromatic carboxylic acid having the number of carbons of more than 10, or salt thereof as film forming agent 0.1 to 20g/l, into water. Or, in addition, metal ions such as Ni and Co being eutectoid-reacted together with Cr may be added.
