Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently decolor secondarily treated water with ozone while suppressing abnormal generation of nitrite ion, by controlling a aeration amount in a secondary night soil-treating vessel so that dissolved oxygen in the treated night soil at an outflow side will by kept in a proper range.
CONSTITUTION: In a night soil-treatment system, sample water is fed to a dissolved oxygen sensor 15 by an underwater pump 14 located near the outlet of a secondary trating vessel 5, to detect the concentration of dissolved oxygen with a dissolved oxygen meter 16. A control valve 17 is operated in accordance with the detected value, to control an amount of air to be blown into the secondary treating bessel 5 in a manner such that dissolved oxygen in the treated water at the outlet of the secondary treating vessel 5 is kept at 1.6ppm or so at most. As a result, nitrite ion is constantly maintained at a few ppm or lower. Consequently, stable decolorization can be performed only by flowing in an amount of ozone required for oxidation and decomposition of coloring compeonents in the ozone-treating step inside the decoloring column 10.
