Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform an inexpensive and precise measurement by means of a simple constitution, by a method wherein a load detector detects a change in a buoyancy of a buoyancy-detecting cylinder with bottom via a lower mechanism to measure a liquid level. CONSTITUTION:A hollow cylinder 4, whose bottom is closed off, is immersed in a liquid 2 to be measured, and a buoyancy acting point 5 is coupled to a load cell 3 through a fulcrum 6 and a lever 7. In this constitution, a buoyancy exerted on a cylinder 4 changes in a liquid level, and is transferred to the load cell 3 at the rate of a lever ratio. In this case, the force exerted on the cell proprtions to a depth h, to which the cylinder 4 is immersed down, or a liquid level h. As a result, if the electric output of the cell 3 is amplified by means of an amplifier 8 and is indicated by an indicator 9, this permits the inexpensive and precise measurement of the liquid level by means of a simple constitution.
