Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the water level accurately without being affected by waves or suds by installing perpendicularly within a tank a measuring tube provided at its upper end with a ultrasonic wave sender-receiver and immersed in the liquid level at its lower end. CONSTITUTION:Within a tank 1 there is installed a measuring tube 4 having its upper end provided with a ultrasonic wave sender-receiver 5 and its lower end amply immersed in a liquid L. Even when waves or suds occur on the surface of the liquid L, the liquid level restricted in the tube 4 form a stable liquid surface not affected by them. Consequently, the liquid level is measured accurately by ultrasonic waves without being affected by waves or suds through the sender-receiver 5. Furthermore, the upper limit of the liquid level corresponding to the near distance where the ultrasonic wave measurement becomes inaccurate and the lower limit of the liquid level affected by suds or waves are detected by liquid level detecting switches 8 and 9 provided at positions corresponding to these limits.
