Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain ferro-sintered parts having pressure resistance as well as excellent wear resistance in particular by a method in which a powder molding is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, a carburizing cementation treatment, and then a hardening treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A powder molding of an iron material is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, during which treatment the molding is sintered, and then machined as needed. Then, the molding is subjected to a carburizing cementation treatment using a converted gas, e.g., CO, H2, N2, etc., while heating and then to a hardening treatment to harden the surface of the molding, whereby permitting a ferro-sintered part which is good in mechanical strength and air-tightness and excellent in wear resistance and pressure resistance to be manufactured. This method is applicable to the manufacture of sintered parts, e.g., the sintered cylinder blocks of plunger type oil pressure pump, etc.
