Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a ferro-sintered parts having a pressure resistance as well as excellent air-tightness and wear resistance by a method in which a powder molding is subjected to a solutionizing tratment, steam treatment, carburizing cementation treatment, and then hardening treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A powder molding of an iron material is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, during which treatment the molding is sintered. The molding is then subjected to a steam treatment so as to give an air-tightness to the sintered molding. Then, the sintered molding is further subjected to a machining as needed, a carburizing cementation treatment using converted gas, e.g., CO, H2, N2, etc., and then a hardening treatment so as to give a wear resistance to the sintered molding. This method is applicable to the manufacture of sintered parts, e.g., the sintered cylinder blocks of plunger type oil-pressure pump, etc.
