Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain ferro-sintered parts having pressure resistance as well as improved lubricity and wear resistance by a method in which a powder molding is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, a nitriding treatment, and then a steam treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A powder molding is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, during which treatment the molding is sintered. Then, the molding is subjected to a nitriding treatment to form a nitride layer having a high wear resistance on the surface of the molding, machined as needed, and then treated with steam to form an approx. 2W20 micron thick durable oxide film on the surface of the molding. The oxide film servs to raise the lubricity and also to suppress the wearing of the surface of the molding. This method is applicable to the manufacture of sintered parts, e.g., the sintered cylinder block of plunger type oil-pressure pump, etc.
