Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain ferro-sintered parts having pressure resistance as well as improved air-tightness and wear resistance by a method in which a powder molding is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, a stream treatment, and then nitriding treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A powder moding of an iron material is subjected to a solutionizing treatment, during which treatment the molding is sintered. Then, the molding is subjected to a steam treatment to form oxides in the pores of the molding in order to give an air-tightness to the sintered molding, machined as needed, and then subjected to a nitriding treatment so as to form an approx. 0.05W0.2mm thick nitride layer having a high wear resistance on the surface of the sintered molding. This method is applicable to the manufacture of sintered parts, e.g., the sintered cylinder block of plunger type oil-pressure pump, etc.
