Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the contact pressure of a spherical roller with respect to cam surface from increasing locally and to prevent the roller from sliding on the cam surface by a method wherein the cam surface on which the spherical roller attached to a piston rolls is formed such that the part of the surface subject to a high load has a roughness different from that of the part sibject to a low load.
CONSTITUTION: The roller 3 which is circular in section ahd which rolls on the cam surface of a cam ring 20 is attached to the piston and the piston is fitted in a cylinder block so as to take reciprocating motions in the radial direction. On the inner peripheral surface of the cam ring 20 there are formed a precision cam surface 20a which is finished to a mirror surface having a roughness of below 1μ and a coarse cam surface 20b which is finished to have a roughness of above 1μ so that the contact pressure of the roller 3 with respect to the precision cam surface 20a becomes equally low. On the other hand, the roller 3 rolls on the coarse cam surface 20b without sliding since the roller and the surface come into close metal-to-metal contact with each other.
