Abstract

PURPOSE: Cellulose acetate of a specific acetyl value is made into a spinning dope of a specific viscosity and the dope is extruded through a spinning nozzle into air and introduced into a coagulation bath of an aqueous solution of solvent to produce the titled fiber having high transparency and strength without any adverse effect on dyeing brightness.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulose acetate of more than 54% acetyl value is dissolved in a solvent such as dimethylacetamide to prepare a spinning dope. The dope is adjusted in viscosity to 100W3,000 poise and extruded frist therough the spinning nozzle into air, then introduced into a coagulation bath which consists of an aqueous solution of a solvent and is kept at lower than 30°C. After coagulation, the resultant fiber is taken up through the guide set in the bath to produce the objective fiber. The concentration of the cellulose acetate is preferably higher than 20wt% in the spinning dope.
